Srinagar: A photojournalist was manhandled by a group of policemen at Chal area of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Aabid Nabi, a photojournalist working with daily Excelsior newspaper along with his cousin was travelling in an Alto Car. On reaching Chal, Boniyar Traffic police stopped the vehicle and asked for documents, Baramulla Working Journalist Association President said.
After checking the documents of the vehicle, the policemen questioned the vehicle has not installed the high security number plate.
A traffic police party headed by an ASI, the Association said, asked for kickback which Aabid refused. Subsequently, the police team pulled him from the vehicle and later thrashed him on Chal road-along Srinagar-Muzafarabad highway, the Association said.
Meanwhile, the Association claimed to have approached the concerned police station with a written complaint against the cops who attacked the photojournalist and for indulging in corruption practice.
