Srinagar: Al Umar Mujhaideen patron Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar has called upon people of Kashmir to observe August 14 as ‘Pakistan Day’ and August 15 as ‘Youm-e-Siyaah (Black Day).
The August 14 and 15 mark the independence days of Pakistan and India respectively.
In a telephonic statement to GNS, Mushtaq Zargar said the August 15 “will be marked by a complete strike across Valley”. He said hospitals are exempted from the strike.
Zargar said while both nations of the subcontinent celebrate their independence days, the people of Jammu Kashmir continue to suffer from the “Indian state-sponsored oppression”.
“This (Aug 15) Day is the most unfortunate and darkest day for us as India has occupied Jammu Kashmir forcibly and illegally. Kashmiris don’t harbour any grudge against the people of India but are their well-wishers. Our movement is against the government of India and we demand our birth right of self-determination,” Zargar said and requested the people not to send their children to any function where I-Day would be observed.
“We will continue to observe this day as black day till the Kashmir issue is resolved as per the UN resolutions or through tripartite dialogue,” he said adding New Delhi cannot prolong the dispute for long but has to resolve it.
