NC corners Govt over Army chief’s statement

Stages walk-out from Assembly

Srinagar: National conference legislators monday asked the government to come clear on what the Army Chief had said in his statement.

According to the KNS correspondent, soon after the Assembly proceedings starts on Monday, The NC legislators led by Ali Mohammad Sagar slammed government for starting “Operation All Out” in central and northern parts of Kashmir after South Kashmir.

“It is a serious issue,” Sagar told the speaker Kavinder Gupta. “CASO is back in Downtown Srinagar after 17 years… what is this?”
“We did not bring adjournment motion because you allege then opposition does not allow house to run.”

“This government has no vision, direction nor any policy,” he said.

M Y Tarigami, MLA Kulgam, said, “this is a serious issue and government should come clear as what army chief meant by politico-military solution to Kashmir.”

The NC legislators raised slogans like “crackdown sarkar – hai hai; Operation All-out sarkar – hai hai; Nagpur sarkar – hai hai” and moved in to the well.

The NC legislators lambasted government for making situation in Srinagar “like that of Southern Kashmir”.

As government remained unmoved and did not issue any statement, the NC legislators staged walk-out. (KNS)
