People accuse health authorities of shielding culprits, likely to File PIL

Baramulla: Bringing more embarrassment to the state Health Department, the drug control officials Monday retrieved yet another haul of expired medicine supplied to government hospitals from Spill Channel in Narbal area of district Baramulla.

Officers of the drug Control told KNS that huge quantity of the expired medicine has been recovered from the flood channel. Ironically this is the fourth such recovery in the district during last couple of weeks. Earlier the drug control officials have recovered hauls of expired medicine supplied to government hospitals from Tangmarg and Golgaldar forests besides Wanigam Palhalan.

Director General Health Services Dr Salem ur Rahman had told KNS that a high level enquiry team has been constituted to probe the matter but that too proved to be a shielding tacts as the report never came public.
People have accused DG and other authorities in the health department for failing to bring accountability in the system and bring the culprits to book. KNS has learnt that some civil society members are contemplating to file a PIL in the high court.
