Srinagar: Police on Thursday evening raided various places to arrest JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik who has gone into hiding to lead a peaceful march towards UN observers’ office at Sonwar Srinagar on 10 December, the international human rights day, a party spokesperson said on Friday.
“Police last (Thursday) evening raided the residence of Malik sahib twice and besides other places also raided the residence of JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt at Chanapora to arrest him,” the spokesperson said in a statement issued to GNS. He said police arrested JKLF district president Anantnag Muhammad Ishaaq Ganiae and vice president Kulgam Assadullah Sheikh from their houses.
Meanwhile, on the call by joint resistance leadership (JRL), JKLF leaders and activists along with several people staged a peaceful protest against US decision of declaring Jerusalem as capital of Israel, the statement said.
Displaying placards depicting slogans in favour of Palestinian people and against US move, the protesters marched towards Budshah Chowk, Lal Chowk where they sat on a peaceful sit-in which was addressed by various JKLF leaders.
Calling US move of declaring Jerusalem as capital of Israel as a declaration of war against the whole Muslim Ummah, JKLF zonal president Noor Muhammad Kalwal said the decision has increased the vulnerability to peace and prosperity of the world.
“Bait-ul-Maqdas (Masjid Al- Aqsa) in Jerusalem is the third holiest place of Islam and therefore no Muslim can accept this US decision silently, “Kalwal said, adding this decision shows the bias of US president Donald Trump towards Muslims and is bound to infuse more tension and hatred in the world.
He termed it heartening that whole world has stood up against the US decision and said it is the duty of all saner elements of human society to unite against this “anarchic” US decision.
Calling for unity among Muslims on this issue, JKLF leader said, “Unity and oneness can only safeguard the interests of Muslim Ummah and save our Qibla-e-Awwal from falling into hands of tyrants and oppressors.” (GNS)
