As a pioneering initiative to empower the Kashmiri Youth, first of its kind, Chinar Skill Training Centre was inaugurated by the Major General A K Singh, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Kilo Force at Headquarters 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles, Haiderbeg on 11 January 2018.
Equipped with state of the art equipment, this public-private venture coordinated between 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles with M/s Orion Edutech Pvt Ltd, Kolkata will impart highly skilled training under National Skill Development Centre (NSDC), thus addressing the challenges of unemployment in the area.
Chinar Skill Training Centre prior to its formal inauguration had already employed 12 local youth from the area as a staff/ trainer under NSDC for the training. These selected youth were provided with two weeks of specialised training at Budgam. Thus, the project in a true sense qualifies as *‘for the Kashmiri Youth, by the Kashmiri Youth’* self sustained project.
In initial phase the centre will run courses in Food Processing and Information Technology training. Food Processing course qualified youth will be skilled in food preservation, canning and juice storage of seasonal fruits whereas Information Technology course will provide opportunities in Information Technology sector.
*While speaking on the occasion, which was attented by hundreds of enthusiast despite extreme cold weather,* General Officer Commanding, Kilo Force lauded the efforts of 10 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and 29 Rashtriya Rifles Battalion for realising such unique initiative for the larger betterment of the society to improve socio-economic status.
He emphasised to youth that today world is progressing at phenomenal speed. As a country India is one of the front-runners in the world. Widespread development can be seen across the country. Number of job oriented opportunities are available, but can only be obtained if one possess corresponding qualification or vocational training. Kashmiri youth also wants to be part of progress. To enable them realise their dream, Army is genuinely striving to provide such opportunities. In this series of efforts to enable the Kashmiri youth to keep pace with development, this highly skilled government owned centre re-invigorate their aspiration to be self – reliant.
Therefore, he appealed the youth to come forward to make the best use of this maiden opportunity and make themselves eligible for gainful employment schemes and earn sustainable livelihood.
The youth who attended this elusive opportunity were found extremely jubilant to find such free of cost skills related expertise at their door steps.
