District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Khalid Jahangir on Saturday chaired a meeting of officers to ensure proper arrangements are well in place for the celebrations of Eid-ul-Azha.
Threadbare discussions were held on the availability of various essential commodities. Besides, availability of mutton and chicken, transport arrangements, traffic management, sanitation of Ziyarat Shariefs, mosques, Eid Gahs and streets, ambulance services were also discussed. Establishment of MACs, with adequate medicines and life-saving drugs uninterrupted power and water supply and proper functioning of street lights were discussed in the meeting.
The representative of FCS&CA informed the chair that out of targeted 62000 qtls of rice, 95 percent of the stock stands lifted and distributed among the consumers of the district. There is a stock of 7800 filled cylinders against a demand of 5000 LPG cylinders.
Regarding sanitation, the EO of MCs informed that proper sanitation will be ensured in and around the Eidgaahs, Mosques and shrines of all towns of the district in advance. The representative from the transport department informed that adequate transport facilities will be provided during the Eid celebrations.
The meeting was informed that 3 lakh poultry birds will be made available at Khiram, District Veterinary hospital Anantnag, Kokernag, Dooru, Bijbehara and Mattan by the department and a sale outlet of dressed poultry birds will be made available at DC office Anantnag with ten rupee discount to the market rate. The sheep officer informed that against a demand of 45000 sacrificial sheep, there is availability of 47000 with the department.
The DDC emphasized upon the concerned officers to ensure regular market checking and to constitute market checking squads under the supervision of Tehsildars and directed for conducting market checking to avoid profiteering, adulteration and hoarding. He also directed to ensure anti-encroachment by vendors, street hawkers, quality-check of edible items and to ensure display of rate lists.
The meeting was attended by ADC Anantnag, SDMs of Dooru Kokernag, CMO, CAHO, Tehsildars of Mattan, Shangus, AD fisheries and other concerned officers.
