Conductor Feared Dead, Driver Injured After JCB Plunges Into River Sindh In Ganderbal

Driver of a JCB was injured and conductor is missing and feared dead after the excavator plunged into river Sindh in Ganderbal district of the central Kashmir on Monday morning.

Official sources told GNS that the JCB fell down along the Srinagar-Leh highway near Hung Sonamarg and plunged into the fast flowing water body at around 3 a.m.

SDPO Kangan, Yasir Qadri told GNS that soon after getting the information, a Police team rushed to the spot and launched a massive rescue operation.

He said that the driver, Shahid Ahmad Gasi of Guzhama Genderbal, was rescued in injured conditions after hectic efforts and was immediately taken to PHC Sonamarg for treatment. He said that conductor of the JCB is still missing and rescue operation is continuing to trace him.

Sources told GNS that chance of survival of the conductor identified as Irfan Ahmad of Wakura Ganderbal area very minimal. (GNS)
