‘Party alone has and will change the political discourse in the region’
Srinagar: Entire society owes it to women as a whole that it rises against any kind of coercion committed against them and Peoples Democratic Party sees the braid chopping incidents as a direct attack on Kashmiri ethos and a brazen attempt to undermine universal culture of respect for womanhood.
While referring to unfortunate episodes at a function organized in honour of new-entrants to Party, Mohammad Srataj Madni Party’s senior vice-president called upon conscientious class in general and Party cadres in particular to maintain vigil against the braid chopping trend and seek an end to it through people’s cooperation.
He said it is our moral responsibility that society is saved from unpleasant impositions of all kinds and discourage actions which tend to take away the assets human behaviour like dignified behavior and decency.
Madni said it is painful to note that Kashmir ethos is under stress and responsible sections will be forced to witness moral and ethical degradation as mute spectators and a helpless lot. . He said Jammu and Kashmir has badly suffered in terms of loss of lives and property in violence of decades. But greater suffering is witnessed now in loss of moral values, which if allowed to continue, will not be forgiven by posterity. “Let us get our act together to see that society is not fragmented and values do not get undermined,” he observed making a fervent appeal for harmony and decent behavior.
Welcoming dozen of respectable members from Sikh Community to the party fold and dozens of other youth who joined PDP at party headquarters today, Madani reiterated Party’s commitment for relentless struggle to uphold dignity, mutual brotherhood and above all the level plain field for all sections of society in granting the political space to people. He said that PDP has undergone testing times and adversaries have left no stone unturned in showing the PDP down. But the party leadership exhibited both restraint and confidence is showing its hands clean. That is why people did not lose faith and believe that PDP alone has and will change the political discourse in the region.
Like Mufti Mohammad Syed who wrote a golden period of development and political emancipation in the state from 2002 to 2005, his successor Ms. Mehbooba Mufti will also prove her adversaries wrong through her sincerity of purpose and urge for struggle, Madani said adding “your joining PDP is an endorsement to Mufti sahibs vision and Mehbooba’s sincerity to serve the people of the state without bias or compromise.”
Speaking on the occasion Party General Secretary Nizamuddin Bhat said that people continue to retain faith in PDP leadership and its agenda and party’s every political decision is open to public scrutiny. People are the best judges and Party will be vindicated, Bhat said adding that PDP cadre has a proven record of honest and people-friendly politics. He said resolution of all issues is possible only if stake holders come to a consensus. That can happen through reconciliation and not confrontation, he added.
Mohammad Khurshid Aalam senior party leader and MLC in his address to new entrants advised them to contribute to PDP’s politics of inclusiveness and help the leadership in further strengthening the Party so that state is made self-reliant and as an ideal centre for peace.
Amanjeet Singh, Kanwarjoot Singh and Amrinder Singh included the prominent Sikh leaders who spoke on the occasion, besides. Dr Imtizaj and Majid Khan who expressed their resolve to work for public good and served PDP’ cause.
State Secretary Ab Hamid Kosheen, Aijaz Ahmad Rather District Secretary and other leaders including Mohd Shafi kundangar and Dr Showkat Vessu were also present on the occasion. (KNS)
