All roads leading to Badami Bagh sealed
A complete shutdown is being observed across the Valley for the second consecutive day against the civilian killings in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday while as the strict restrictions have been imposed in Srinagar areas to thwart Badami Bagh march called by separatist group.
All the roads leading to Badami Bagh have been sealed by the authorities in view of the call given by Joint Resistance Leadership.
A large contingent of police and paramilitary troopers has been deployed on roads to thwart any protests in Srinagar areas especially in Old City areas here.
Besides, all the shops and other business establishments, petrol pumps and educational institutions remain closed for second straight day while as traffic is also thin on the roads.
The traffic department had on Sunday also issued an advisory, saying that traffic will not be allowed to ply on Pantha Chowk?Sonwar? Dalgate road stretch on Monday.
“In view of security restrictions in Srinagar on 17th of December, 2018, traffic will not be allowed to ply on Pantha Chowk?Sonwar? Dalgate road stretch,” traffic police said, adding that people who intend to travel to South Kashmir are advised to take Bypass road.
“Similarly people coming from South Kashmir shall adopt Bypass road to reach City Centre,” the officials said in a statement issued to KNS, adding that people who have to travel from Nishat & adjacent areas to reach City Centre shall adopt Boulevard?Badyari road.
No traffic shall be allowed to ply on Gupkar road stretch from Grand Place crossing, they said, adding that commuters are requested to use alternate routes to reach their destinations. “Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted,” officials said.
