Srinagar: 27 Kashmir-based trade bodies on Monday extended support to the protest strike call issued by the joint resistance leadership for August 5 and 6. The Supreme Court is hearing the case on Article 35-A on August 6.
Addressing a press conference here, the trade bodies have appealed the Supreme Court to dismiss the petitions challenging the validity of Article 35-A which defines permanent residents of the state.
“The case is adding fuel to Kashmir unrest and any tinkering with the Article 35-A will yield serious repercussions,” they warned.
“We will hold protests to safeguard the special status of our State and are ready to face bullets,” they said.
Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Forum (KTMF) president Muhammad Yasin Khan said if the Government of India abrogates the Article 35-A, it will be an “all-out war”.
“It is a matter of life and death for us,” he said.
