‘Vehicles seized under SC guidelines’
Srinagar: Traffic Police City Srinagar Friday claimed to have seized eight mini buses and three vans mostly for ferrying more school-going children than the permitted capacity.
The vehicles include, JK01T-5344, a Mini Bus of Woodland Public School was seized for overloading charges, JK01M-9843, a van of Spring Field Public School was seized for overloading charges, JK01U-8527, a private vehicle of Iqra International School Chanapora was seized for overloading, JK01R-3947, a Mini Bus of Oasis Public School was seized as it was running without documents, JK13C-7807, a Mini Bus of Lyceum International School Pulwama was seized because of without documents and without driving license, JK01H-8753, a Mini Bus of Tiny Heart Public School was seized because of overloading, JK06-1476, a Mini Bus of Tiny Heart Public School was seized for overloading, JK01G-9160, a private of Tiny Heart Public School was also seized for overloading.
The three other vehicles bearing registration number JK01M-2708, JK01M-6591 and JK13A-9239 of British Public School, New Convent School and Islamic Muslim University Awantipora respectively were seized because of without documents, overloading and without documents correspondingly.
Traffic police said that vehicles have been seized under Supreme Court guidelines for school buses /vehicles carrying the school children and other provisions of M.V. Act.
It is pertinent to mention here that on 13th of March-2018 Traffic Police City Srinagar booked 08 vehicles ferrying school going children for carrying children more than seating capacity. It is reiterated that all school buses and private operators have to abide by Hon’ble Supreme Court guidelines for which Advisory was issued by this office through print, electronic and social media on 21st of February-2018.
